Ooooooooh black jerseys
Running across a big square field
Ooooooooh they tackle each other
And spit because they are so tough
I want to be just like them
If only I could be just like them
That’s my only goal – to be like them
And no one else ‘coz they’re my reason for living
Thank you, Jesus
For giving us the All blacks
Thank you, Jesus
For making them the greatest people in the world
Thank you, Jesus
For giving your life for me
There is nothing that could take me away from you
Except for when there is an All Blacks game on TV
So thank you most of all for the All Blacks
Their drinking/fighting/group sex culture is on-ly way to beeeeeee
Yeah

I thought it might be fun to jot down some things as I think of them today. And not just because I have nothing to blog about. Not at all....

I once made a joke about the drinking culture of rugby to my cousin who's BFF with the AB's captain, and he got really angry and said that Ritchie isn't like that at all, doesn't binge drink very often at all, worked really hard to get where he is, etc. Anton definitely isn't like that either. Dunno about the others though... I always imagine that the negative aspects are more prevalent (nowadays anyway) at the tier below the ABs because there is so much competition to get to the top.
But anyway, that's against the point of your post. I totally agree with you about why it is wrong for the church to be doing that; I also totally disagree with the worship given to the ABs (esp whilst they simultaneously ignore the WORLD CHAMPION netball team bc they're women); and disagree with the expectation that we must win followed by so-called National Mourning when we don't...
that was a point i made to someone from that church - they didn't do this for any other sport, so why should they be doing it for this??? i mean, if we're going to use their facilities for crap sporting events, perhaps i should have asked to watch wrestlemania there???
never mind that this is the same church that told me i was allowed to use it for recording a song, and then when i started to arrange times COMPLETELY backed out of it because i wasn't recording a worship song. you know, only a song i wrote for my brother's funeral. and people wonder why i don't go there anymore...
and on ANOTHER side, i got some angry txts from some friends who go to that church, saying that it was wrong of me to post this blog blah blah blah. so pathetic. i really hate churches. seriously. wow - this comment is like a whole blog on it's own
