2025 in 2025: Day 186

Wild and Peaceful - Kool & The Gang
This is purely Jungle Boogie. Get down, get down! So much funk in here...
10/10

Wild Cherry - Wild Cherry
Lots of funky guitars going on here. The best part is taking their biggest (and only?) hit and just playing it backwards to create another song. AND THEN just playing it a bit slower to make ANOTHER song.
Highlights: Play That Funky Music, Get It Up, Don't Go Near the Water, I Feel Sanctified
7.5/10

Wild Mood Swings - The Cure
This is their most full on pop album, but not really normal "pop"; more like a weird mish-mash of 80s pop and 90s silliness. Lots of big horns and strings and weird endings. And, honestly, most of it comes off as a bit sterile.
Highlights: Want, Mint Car, Gone!, Numb
7/10

Wild Ones - Flo Rida
Almost every song has the same beat. It is the sort of music I would imagine Enrique and Pitbull listening to in the club while drinking and partying with young ladies. Not too young!
Highlights: Wild Ones, Run, I Cry, Good Feeling
7/10

Wild Planet - The B-52's
This is kind of like very early The Cure if they were making quirky pop music. Fred delivers his vocals the way John Mulaney delivers comedy.
Highlights: Private Idaho, Party Out of Bounds, Devil in My Car, Runnin' Around
7.5/10

Will You Marry Me? (feat. Bizniz) [Single] - Lee Seung Gi
It has been a while since we played 'random K-pop song of the day'. This is very fun, but also very touching, and then features a rapper telling his lady to marry him.
8/10

Willow Lane - Ryan Adams
Another Ryan Adams single from when he was flooding the market with music and growing more insufferable (publicly - obviously he had been that way privately forever). And these songs are easy to ignore.
Highlights: There are only two very average songs
6/10

Wish - The Cure
This is my least favourite album by The Cure, because the album features an ugly logo that only calls them "Cure". It is also one of my favourite albums by The Cure, because the music is a wonderful blend of sprawling dark epics and cheesy pop songs.
Highlights: A Letter to Elise, Doing The Unstuck, Trust, High
8/10

With The Beatles - The Beatles
Hot take: Harrison's songs on here may be the best. Sure, they were just covers, but they rock the most. The rest of the album is fairly standard covers and some decent Lennon/McCartney numbers.
Highlights: Roll Over Beethoven, Don't Bother Me, It Won't Be Long, You Really Got a Hold On Me
7/10

Wither Blister Burn & Peel - Stabbing Westward
Oh my! I had actually forgotten about this album and just how much it stomps! A bit less dark and brooding than Darkest Days, while a bit heavier and industrial and angrier. Christopher Hall's vocals are just massive.
Highlights: Shame, Don't Believe, So Wrong, Falls Apart
7.5/10

The Wizard of Oz - Meco
I guess it is about time I had Meco improve a classic soundtrack again. This one is still super disco, but also somewhat hilariously silly - mostly because of the Munchkins singing to disco beats.
Highlights: Ding-Dong The Witch is Dead, Over the Rainbow, We're Off to See The Wizard
6.5/10

Wolves - NoisyCell
Massive dance rock good times? All rather epic and massive and a good time - I am not sure if I have actually listened to this album before and I should listen to it more!
Highlights: M.R.W., Wolves, Letter, 虹霓
7.5/10

Wonderwall Music - George Harrison
The first solo Beatle album is an instrumental piece, with various influences like traditional Indian music and honky tonk and old American Western? There are a couple of tracks that do very much sound like George Harrison, as well. Pretty chill.
Highlights: Party Seacombe, Ski-ing, Drilling a Home, Wonderwall to Be Here
6/10

Woodface - Crowded House
Some times I think I expected more from a Finn brothers collaboration, but it gave us a few outstanding songs on here amongst the very mediocre everything else, so I guess it was worth it?
Highlights: Weather With You, Chocolate Cake, Four Seasons in One Day, How Will You Go
7/10

Word Gets Around - Stereophonics
I understand why I have the song Traffic - I used to do this one live and it is a darn great song. But why I do not have the rest of the album is wild mystery to me and I am adding it to the list of albums to sort out after this.
8/10

2025 in 2025: Day 178

Tracks - PASSPO☆
My self-made compilation that I spoke about in length. Go read that and let me mourn their disbanding in peace!
Highlights: Tracks, バスタブ, サンキュバースデイ♪, Musical Party, 少女飛行 [5th Anniversary Version]
8/10

Traction - Supergroove
This album is so strangely mixed; they are predominantly a funk and ska band, yet the guitars are mixed WAY up the front, to the point where the vocals sound like they are behind a wall., and that snare has some seriously humongous reverb. And I cannot say I am a fan of the guitar tone at all. But the groove sure is... super. Thank you, I will be here all the time listening to my never-ending iTunes library...
Highlights: Can't Get Enough, Next Time,
7/10

Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
Talk about soul! Tales of living less than good lives; heartache, abuse, fighting for a better life and just wanting to get away from it all.
Highlights: Fast Car, Baby Can I Hold You, Talkin' Bout a Revolution, Scorpio Girls, You Gotta Know
7/10

Trampoline - The Mavericks
I have only the one song - Dance the Night Away. Pretty they really only have one song, right? People love hearing this song live, for some reason.
7.5/10

Transformers: History of Music 1984-1990 - Various Artists
This is a MASSIVE compilation of all the music used in the Japanese anime adaptations of The Transformers. Every piece of music is here, from opening and closing themes to incidental music and karaoke versions. This compilation originally included a song by PSYCHIC LOVER and was my first real introduction to Japanese pop & rock music! Basically, where I am in life now can all be traced back to watching the Headmasters & Victory anime shows... Some of the main themes are very cool and a bit funky, but I think we can all agree that some of these are completely unnecessary.
Highlights: The Headmasters, You Are A Transformer, Transformer V, Theme of Transformer Z
6.5/10

The Transformers: The Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists
I refuse there to believe there could possibly be an album that is more 80s rock than this. Vince DiCola's score is pretty darn epic, too - his use of odd time signatures is very compelling.
Highlights: The Touch - Stan Bush, Dare - Stan Bush, The Transformers (Theme) - Lion, Nothin's Gonna Stand in Our Way - Spectre General
9/10

Trash We'd Love - the HIATUS
細美さん still sounds like his ELLEGARDEN days here, vocally. Lyrically it is worlds away! But this album is still the closest kind of bridge between the two bands, while sounding very different. It goes pretty hard. My man was clearly working through some stuff, but it made for more of a serious emo kind of thing. Wow I actually forgot how intense this album gets.
Highlights: 紺碧の夜に, Silver Birch, Storm Racers, Ghost in the Rain
8.5/10

The Traveling Wilburys Collection (Deluxe Edition) - The Traveling Wilburys
These are the bonus tracks from the big re-release. They are fine, but I just do not like having them tacked onto the end of otherwise perfect albums.
Highlights: Maxine, Like a Ship
6/10

The Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 1 - The Traveling Wilburys
This albums is such a fine continuation of what George Harrison and Jeff Lynne were doing on Cloud 9. Just with added input from other experts in their field. I would make a comment about them all being old men, but I am the same age now as Harrison was at the time...
Highlights: End of the Line, Heading for the Light, Tweeter and the Monkey Man, Handle with Care
8.5/10

The Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 3 - The Traveling Wilburys
Less of a polished pop rock record and more of a roots/country rock record, in my opinion. But, given the players involved, it is right in their Q-Zone and they sound like they are having a lot of fun.
Highlights: Inside Out, Poor House, Wilbury Twist, Cool Dry Place
7.5/10

2025 in 2025: Day 176

Three Imaginary Boys - The Cure
The Cure are one of my favourite bands of all time. Easily in my top 10. They have some incredibly epic albums full of emotion, but also effortlessly switch between pop rock fun and nihilistic despair. This album is nothing of the sort.
Highlights: Grinding Halt, Another Day, 10:15 Saturday Night, Three Imaginary Boys
6/10

Thriller - Michael Jackson
Hot take: this is not MJ's best album. However, Beat It and Billie Jean are just such phenomenal songs that it meant this album sold a bajillion copies. Dangerous and Bad do not feature awful collaborations with Paul McCartney, so they are infinitely better. The worst part is that other song he did with McCartney is actually a good song!
Highlights: Beat It, Billie Jean, Human Nature, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
8/10

Throwing Copper - Live
Every song is either Quiet LOUD Quiet, or Quiet Quiet LOUD. Except for Waitress - which is LOUD Quiet LOUD, for some weird reason. It is all fine and dandy, but nothing overly exceptional that has made me go out of my way to listen to this in the last 30 years.
Highlights: Top, Pillar of Davidson, White Discussion, Iris
7/10

Tidal - Fiona Apple
Fiona Apple is the lyricist Swifties think their cult leader is. I may appreciate her angst and subsequent vocal performance on When the Pawn... more, but boy howdy this album has some pretty deep emotions.
Highlights: Criminal, Sullen Girl, Never is a Promise, Pale September
8/10

Tiffany - Tiffany
Sadly, I do not have the full album - just I Think We're Alone Now. I am not sure why I do not have at least the other singles. Because I am lame, that is why!
8/10

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
This is only The Goonies 'R' Good Enough - for obvious reasons! I should watch that movie again one day.
8/10

Timeless: New Recordings Honoring The Music Of Hank Williams - Various Artists
This is just Ryan Adams' cover of Lovesick Blues. He puts on his most irritating fake country voice for this one...
5/10

Tiny Music...Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop - Stone Temple Pilots
I love Weiland's voice on this album - he has gone for a bit more of a raspy glam rock kind of vibe and it really suits the way everything comes together, because musically it has bit of a glam rock vibe as well. Like, total peak art school Led Zeppelin tribute act vibes. And I mean that in the most complimentary of ways.
Highlights: Lady Picture Show, Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart, Seven Caged Tigers, Tumble in the Rough
8/10

To the 5 Boroughs - Beastie Boys
Oh snap the boys are back! Just straight-up NYC hip-hop. War is bad. George W. Bush is a clown. Racism and bigotry are bad. Sampling Sonic Reducer is the greatest idea ever and I will forgive them for using it to tell me how great New York is.
Highlights: An Open Letter to NYC, Right Right Now Now, Rhyme the Rhyme Well, Time to Build
8.5/10

TO THE DREAM - The Tomboys
As indie as ever, but even more catchy. And fun.
Highlights: Tell Me Why, I GOTTA GO, SATURDAY NIGHT
7/10

The The Extreme - Vanilla Ice
V.I.P. in the house! I unironically love still enjoy the enjoy the bejeebus out of this album; sure, the rhymes are corny, but there are plenty of James Brown samples, fun old school grooves, and Vanilla's silly rapping is part of the charm. I still need to find that third version of Play That Funky Music...
Highlights: Ice Ice Baby, Ice is Workin' It, Dancin', Go Ill
8/10

To Whom It May Concern - Lisa Marie Presley
Lisa Marie's debut album, featuring some pretty standard pop country rock stylings - kind of like a modern take on where her Dad left off, I guess? Some surprisingly decent songs to be found. I need to remember to give this a closer listen again some time...
Highlights: Lights Out, S.O.B., Nobody Noticed It, So Lovely
7/10

Today - George Harrison
Another George Harrison bootleg of randomness. Mostly collaborations and whatnot. And I have most of them on other albums? And I am not 100% convinced he actually performs on some of them.
Highlights: Power to the People, Your True Love (Live - Carl Perkins' Memorial Service), Horse to the Water
6.5/10

Today (Legacy Edition) - Elvis Presley
One of The King's final albums and highly underrated; still not too dissimilar to the rest of his 70s output, but it is mostly fun and Elvis feels like he put a bit of effort it. The opening track is such an old school rock'n roll kind of groove, I cannot help but love it. The undubbed versions are not too different - except you can hear Elvis getting the giggles during Susan When She Tried.
Highlights: T-R-O-U-B-L-E, Pieces of My Life, Fairytale, Shake a Hand

2025 in 2025: Day 175

Their Greatest Hits: The Record - Bee Gees
I am not against the 60s hits at all - they are generally decent little pop numbers, and some of them are brilliant songs - but once this hits the latter end of disc one (the mid-70s), it is GAME ON!
Highlights: Nights on Broadway, If I Can't Have You, You Should Be Dancing, More Than a Woman, Night Fever, You Win Again, Alone, For Whom the Bell Tolls
8/10

There's Only Now - Eskobar
This purely the song Someone New - a collaboration with Heather Nova. And this is peak Heather Nova awesomeness.
9/10

These Days - Bon Jovi
This is Richie Sambora at his most bluesiest - and the album peaks in places because of it. It also has fairly boring lows, but it is actually a better album than I remember. Or those great songs are greater than I remember...
Highlights: Something for the Pain, These Days, Something to Believe In, Hey God
7.5/10

These Days Tour '95 (Live) - Bon Jovi
JBJ giving a fairly average performance. Luckily this is only a short live EP; a few Slippery When Wet classics, their "current" single, and a bad cover.
Highlights: Wild in the Streets
6/10

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
An alt rock pop masterpiece. I think some people like to call this "Power Pop" or something, because there is some serious emotion in here that absolutely NO ONE can match. Kevin Cadogan's riffs and licks are what really elevated the songs - something that was seriously lacking on every album after (except for maybe Dopamine).
Highlights: Motorcycle Drive By, The Background, Graduate, God of Wine, Narcolepsy, Losing a Whole Year, Semi-Charmed Life
9/10

Thirty Three & 1/3 - George Harrison
Bah gawd that is some funkyass bass in Woman Don't You Cry For Me. This album always surprises me, because it is mostly very enjoyable and has a bit more soul to it.
Highlights: Woman Don't You Cry For Me, Beautiful Girl, This Song, It's What You Value
7/10

This Is Happening - LCD Soundsystem
Not quite as pretentious as Sound of Silver? Maybe actually more pretentious? Either way, the peaks are high, but not as consistent as their previous albums. A bit more cruising through the indie hipster electro vibes. Nancy Whang is still the winner - her "ONE TOUCH!" is a standout.
Highlights: Dance Yrself Clean, One Touch, Home, Drunk Girls
8/10

This is Not a Test! - Missy Elliott
Solid and consistent album; pretty straight-up no nonsense hip-hop all the way through, featuring some decent collabs and MASSIVE beats.
Highlights: Wake Up, Pass That Dutch, Is This Our Last Time, Pump It Up, Spelling Bee
8/10

This Is Shit - The Shit
A little less... insane than the usual offering from The Shit. But it is still great fun and fast-paced. I am not sure Chuck Norris genuinely endorsed this album...
Highlights: Us vs. Cops, WW3 is Suicide, Rats, Totally Speechless
6.5/10

This Is... - Icona Pop
I Love It is the sexy bitch jam of every summer. The Jay-Z references/homage is pretty darn hilarious, though. Has pop music really stopped evolving? Because this album sounds like it could have been released last year.
Highlights: I Love It, All Night, Just Another Night, Girlfriend
7/10

Those Weren't The Days - Whiskeytown
You know, today has been so upbeat and mostly fun... and then getting immediately hit with the downers on this album is just a bit jarring. Once things finally pick up a bit, it gets more enjoyable for sure. I feel like I have heard some of these songs in different forms numerous times throughout the marathon now...
Highlights: The Rain Won't Help You When It's Over, Believe, 10 Seconds Til the End of the World, Empty Baseball Park
6/10

A Thousand Suns - Linkin Park
Artistically speaking, this is LP's greatest achievement. Ironically, my computer started asking me questions about the Oppenheimer movie just as the quote from him was playing to start the album. Chester really brought it this album. Like, holy hell did he bring it. They all did, but that was the perfect ending. And even though half of these tracks are just interludes, it ties together perfectly (and the songs just kill). My day needed more people referencing Jay-Z's The Blueprint²!
Highlights: Waiting for the End, The Messenger, The Catalyst, When They Come for Me, Iridescent
9/10

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance
Was the concept on this album they are hitmen or something? Or just angry emo teenagers? Either way, it works; the heavier guitars and big screaming makes for a more fun musical experience. Legit an almost perfect album of pop punk hooks.
Highlights: Helena, Thank You For the Venom, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), I Never Told You What I Do For a Living
8/10

Three Dollar Bill, Y'all - Limp Bizkit
I do not have the full album, thankfully. I am not even sure how I ended up with half the album. It is all much more nu-metal and rough than anything that would follow.
Highlights: Counterfeit, Faith

2025 in 2025: Day 166

Some Time in New York City - John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Controversial opinion: this is John Lennon's best solo album. Even more controversial opinion: Woman is the N**** of the World is a great song. Maybe using the N word so much was not his best idea, but it should not have been removed from the reissue. Which is a shame, because I was interested in hearing a full remix of this album. Anyways, the overt political nature of the album is what endears it to me. After this he had the FBI following him, Yoko left, and Lennon stopped being involved in anything that meant anything.
Highlights: Angela, We're All Water, Woman is the N**** of the World, New York City
8/10

Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra) - Gotye
I have never known Gotye. But Kimbra is somebody that I met? She is very cool and an amazing artist - genuinely the best to come out of New Zealand in a VERY long time.
8/10

Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell
I sometimes wonder if there is any song more 80s than this. My immediate thoughts when I hear it are Tubbs miming along in a strip club and having the time of his life. I need to watch Miami Vice again...
9/10

Something to Be - Rob Thomas
I can actually understand why this did not get released as Matchbox Twenty - even though I believe he is the chief songwriter for the group, this sounds far more pop radio with heavy influences from somewhere. I hesitate to say R&B, but there is something quite unlike the usual pop rock that would get from his pop rock band. And, honestly, it works.
Highlights: This is How a Heart Breaks, Something to Be, Streetcorner Symphony, Problem Girl
7/10

Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit - Courtney Barnett
I have never heard a woman "sing" in such a monotone fashion - it is almost spoken word, except some of it is kind of shouting? This may be the most Australian album ever.
Highlights: I did enjoy the references to Melbourne
4/10

Somewhere in England - George Harrison
I think this album is the one where his record company rejected half of it and made him replace a bunch of songs. I am not sure they made the right call. The only real noteworthy aspect here is the song featuring the surviving Beatles in remembrance of the recently murdered John Lennon.
Highlights: All Those Years Ago, Teardrops, Save the World
6.5/10

Song Destroyer - DJ Reggie
More of this? In fairness, it actually randomly features an instrumental piece that I am fairly certain is on an actual Ryan Adams & The Cardinals song in part. I am not sure what it is doing between a rap about going to a Rascal Flatts concert and a rap about... I do not even know.
Highlights: Moonlighting
4/10

A Song for ×× - Ayumi Hamasaki
I may choose to ignore how terrible Ayu's voice is on this album. Instead we can focus on how horribly dated the music sounds - it does not even sound like it is from 1999, more like 1989. But, that does mean the guitar riffs sound like they are from 1989, and thus are awesome? Because that is what saves this album; despite the production being outdated, the music of the whole thing is actually really great. Which is why I would have been on board for a full re-recording in like 2005-2010 when Ayu's voice was awesome. And, thus, some of the live versions of the title track are genuinely more definitive.
Highlights: Depend on you, A Song for ××, FRIEND II, For My Dear...
7/10

Songs - Regina Spektor
Her first couple of albums were just her on a piano, basically doing hipster rap over little piano licks. It runs that line between 'is it actually clever or is it just a hipster being satirical about what people think is clever songwriting?'
Highlights: Consequence of Sounds
5/10

Songs About Jane - Maroon 5
This album is such a far cry from what they do now - much more in a funk rock kind of vibe. Songs like Harder to Breathe and This Love were kind of a little off the curve at the time. And I probably did not appreciate how great a singer Adam Levine is.
Highlights: Harder to Breathe, This Love, She Will Be Loved
7/10

Songs From the Big Chair - Tears For Fears
I only have a couple of songs from this album. Especially embarrassing, considering this has been issued in deluxe editions multiple times.
Highlights: Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head Over Heels
9/10

Songs in the Attic - Billy Joel
How many live albums does this man need? I would guess this is in New York, because he gets a big pop any time he mentions anything relating to that.
Highlights: Captain Jack, Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)
6.5/10

Songs of a Lost World - The Cure
Returning after forever with the most Cure sounding album possible was not on my bingo card for 2024. Because I do not play bingo. I do, however play The Cure albums and vibe out to the sprawling intros and how this album truly works as one piece of art.
Highlights: Endsong, Alone, Drone:Nodrone, All I Ever Am
8/10

Songs to Learn & Sing - Echo & The Bunnymen
I only have the song The Killing Moon. I do not know if I have even heard another song by this band - this was purely because I had been watching Donnie Darko. I should watch that again.
7.5/10

The Sorrowjoy - Heather Nova
Another solo track; it is a spoken-word album that I was never able to track down on CD, but she released this song, The Singing State, for free somewhere some time...

2025 in 2025: Day 139

Orion - Ryan Adams
I do not think he used a fake name for this one, right? And for good reason; it is probably a bit more solid than the ones he did that way. Clearly put more effort in. It is not metal like he claimed, but that suits me fine. More of a 70s prog rock concept album about battles in outer space. Some seriously great riffs all around.
Highlights: Fire and Ice, Imminent Galactic War, By Force, End of Days
6.5/10

The Other Side of the Coin - Ace Frehley
This is a bootleg of Ace Frehley demos from the 80s and 90s. Most are pretty much what you would expect from bootleg demos, but at least it has Back in to My Arms Again, which is from 1984 and he finally recorded a proper studio version 40 years later... and it is awful. The demo is a million times better. We will get to the modern version at the tail end of this marathon... Some of this stuff sounds like Ace was auditioning for Devo.
Highlights: Take Me to the City, Back in to My Arms Again, Into the Night
6/10

Otras Canciones - George Harrison
I really have no idea what this compilation is. Half the titles are just Titulo desconocido and all the songs are in poor quality. Some rare songs, some single versions, some songs repeated. Clearly a messy bootleg, this one!
Highlights: The sheer randomness
6/10

Our Secret Spot - the HIATUS
The tamest album from the Hiatus. It was released right before the ELLEGARDEN reunion tour started, so I get the feeling it was a bit rushed and maybe lacked a bit of effort. Between the Black and Grey was released a year later, so clearly my man had a lot going on.
Highlights: Servant, Back on the Ground, Firefly / Life in Technicolor, Get Into Action
7/10

Our Version of Events - Emeli Sandé
This is just the song Next to Me. I ended up with this by chance, but that is good because it is a pretty cool song.
8/10

Out of Control - Peter Criss
For some reason, I remembered this being not so great. I even remembered my Kissathon II review as saying it was bad. I listened today, and I thought it was pretty good. Then I read my Kissathon II review, and I scored it about what I would now. Except I would be much less harsh on the production? So I would be less funny? Sounds about right.
Highlights: There's Nothing Better, My Life
6/10

Out of Here - Corduroy
An album that genuinely changed my life - it really altered how I approach funk guitar and my own playing in general. This and Jamiroquai's A Funk Odyssey were insanely influential at the time. As much as I dig their funk-jazz instrumentals and fake movie scores, adding vocals just took these guys to the next level for me. Adding beautiful melody lines and harmonies? Killer stuff. Not literally, or the 3,000 of us that bought this album would be long dead...
Highlights: Don't Wait For Monday, Practice What You Preach, Out of Here, The Diceman, Motorhead
9/10

Out of the Light - Brian May
The bonus disc for the Back to the Light reissue. Some instrumentals, some live songs, all good times. Hearing him and Slash go back to back like that kind of makes Slash sound bad.
Highlights: Too Much Love Will Kill You [Guitar Version], 39/Let Your Heart Rule Your Head [Live], Too Much Love Will Kill You [Live], Driven By You [Cozy and Neil Version '93]
7/10

Out of the Vein - Third Eye Blind
This album rocks to hard... for the first half. It is just big powerful banger after big powerful banger, hook after hook, fist in the air and screaming along! Then the second half is all totally chilled out and kind of repetitive and less inspired? Except for Company. That song still goes kind of hard.
Highlights: Blinded, Forget Myself, My Hit and Run, Faster
8/10

Outside - David Bowie
Yes, I know the album title is actually 1.Outside. I will fix it later. But that is the least of this album's concerns. The whole thing is a mash of weird industrial and prog and electro crazy and should be listened to in the dark.
Highlights: We Prick You, Outside, Hallo Spaceboy, Strangers When We Meet
5/10

Outtakes and Demos - Queen
Another self-compiled collection of tracks from the Queen reissues. Quite interesting for the most part. I would like a proper version of Feelings Feelings if they have it somewhere.
Highlights: Feeling Feelings [Take 10], Sail Away Sweet Sister  [Take 1 with Guide Vocal], Football Fight [Early Version - No Synths!], The Hero [Revisited Version]
6.5/10

The Overture & The Underscore - Sarah Blasko
About as lo-fi as a chill indie record could ask for. And without being all that negative or depressing. However, it is the darker songs that really shine on this album. Blasko often sings with a very breathey style, but I really dig when gets a bit more forceful. And her lyrics are genuinely topshelf.
Highlights: Beautiful Secrets, Don't U Eva, Sweetest November, Remorse
7/10

Oyster - Heather Nova
Talk about influential albums! So much emotion and passion wrapped up in acoustic songs, layered with beautiful harmonies, solid rhthym and very moody guitars. Honestly, when I was 20, this was the album I wanted to make.
Highlights: Walk This World, Walking Higher, Maybe An Angel, Doubled Up, Island

2025 in 2025: Day 117

Live: Medianrum Forumassago, Milan 03-11-2010 - Prince
This an example of a very listenable audience recording. It is not perfect by any stretch, but certainly gives a decent account of what the show was like. And this show is Prince tearing up the sky with his telecaster. The man is clearly in a groove, because it is not until song five that he actually plays one of his own tracks. And his playing has all the feel and funk you could imagine.
Highlights:
8/10

Live: Omaha to Osaka - L7
Having a marching band perform a medley of L7 songs is definitely a way to start a live show. Not sure what their beef with Dave Mustaine and Megadeth was. Sure, Crush 'Em was not the best entrance theme for Goldberg, but that is no reason to keep ripping on the dude in Omaha. They sure did not have anything to say about him in Osaka. Instead they.. .bitch about people asking for Shitlist. Rude. You played that for the clowns in Omaha! I guess that was their prize for not going to see Megadeth!
Highlights: Deathwish, Drama, Non-Existent Patricia, Shitlist, Fast and Frightening
7/10

Live: Palalottomatica, Rome 02-11-2010 - Prince
Hilarious that this comes after the concert that happened the day after. Now I am confused! The sound quality is not as good as the Milan show, but the setlist is slightly different; much less covers, a couple of 90s cuts, and a bit less jamming. Purple Rain is not quite the guitar solo masterclass as it would be the next night, but it is still extremely awesome.
Highlights: Purple Rain, Peach, Controversy/Le Freak/Sexy Dancer, Shhh!
7.5/10

The Living Dead - BUMP OF CHICKEN
My usual points about these dudes still remains, but this album is a little different in vibes; it is much less rocking and a bit more chill. The acoustic guitar is quite prominent, but without the album not feeling like an indie rock album. Actually, that is the vibe! Much more indie.
Highlights: LAMP, K, 続・くだらない唄, リリィ
7/10

The Living End - The Living End
When I hear Green Day albums from the late 90s/early 00s like Nimrod and Warning, I think this is what they though they sounded like. But they did not. Because that stuff was weaksauce and this is ferocious skiffle rockabilly punk rock and it absolutely stomps hard. Awesome songs and VERY good musicians. Sure, the 2nd half is just kind of okay, but that first half is so amazing you forget you are listening to some young Aussie dudes. Apparently, the dude from this band is also in a rockabilly group with Jimmy Barnes. Holy moly!
Highlights: Growing Up (Falling Down), Monday, Save the Day, Second Solution, West End Riot, All Torn Down
8/10

Living in the city - SCANDAL
Their drummer must have slept in and missed the session? Because this is modern-era SCANDAL with a big beat behind those soundscape guitars. And it is great.
8/10

Living in the Material World - George Harrison
This is much of a straight up pop album, compared to his first solo effort. Lyrically, it is very focused on spirituality. And getting sued.
Highlights: Be Here Now, Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth), The Day The World Get's Round, Living in the Material World
7.5/10

Living Things - Linkin Park
This is pretty quick fire. But also lacking in any real substance or anything memorable. It follows a bit of the vibe of Ten Thousand Suns by having a whole lot of similar sounding songs. Except those were awesome and there were all those weird interludes to mix it.
Highlights: Burn it Down, Powerless
6/10

London Calling - The Clash
Not quite as diverse as some of their other albums, but the mindset and attitude remains the same. This marathon has definitely made me appreciate The Clash even more.
Highlights: London Calling, Death or Glory, Train in Vain, Rudie Can't Fail
7.5/10

Long Plays 83-87 - Pseudo Echo
This is purely Funky Town. The greatest cover song ever. I do not need to know if Pseudo Echo ever made any other music, because this song should fund them many houses for eternity.

2025 in 2025: Day 115

Live EP - Sarah McLachlan
How do I have two live releases from Sarah McLachlan? This one is with a full band. And is from earlier in her career. It is quite good.
Highlights: Home, Lost
6.5/10

Live Era '87-'93 - Guns N' Roses
There is just not enough of the earlier era here to make this album worth spending two and a half hours listening to, for me. Like, it starts off very strong, but then the Use Your Illusion tour stuff is pretty obvious because Axl's singing is terrible and Slash's guitar solos are sloppy. Duff is, however, a total badass throughout. That man rocks.
Highlights: Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, Welcome to the Jungle, It's Alright, Rocket Queen
6/10

Live From Nowhere - Ryan Adams
This appears to be just a couple of random live acoustic numbers - namely Shine Through the Dark and Wasted Years. I actually dig what he did with that Iron Maiden song. How do I not have any Iron Maiden in my collection anymore?
7/10

Live From The River of Dreams Tour '93-'94 - Billy Joel
Just some quick highlights from the tour, I guess. Bonus disc in the River of Dreams album. Songs from that album and a couple of covers. In fact, I think I may even have a DVD from this tour? Joel's voice is pretty darn rockin' on this.
Highlights: No Man's Land, The River of Dreams
7/10

Live in Auckland, New Zealand 3/12/80 - Kiss
Album #1000! I have this recording for posterity; so I can say I have at least heard every Kiss concert in Auckland (I have attended every other one, because LOGMAN rules). And actually it is pretty decent; very much atypical of a Kiss concert on this tour. It is not a patch on something like Alive!, but that is because it is a proper live recording and not touched up in the studio. Which is fun. Spoiler alert: when Paul Stanley said they were "definitely coming back next year", he was lying.
Highlights: Shandi, Is That You?, Talk to Me, Calling Doctor Love
7/10

Live In Detroit 30/11/82 - Prince
This has got to be one of the earliest Prince concerts out there, right? And it is super awesome. I absolutely love the way he plays up the ending of How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore? I would ask his estate for more of this sort of thing, but I would be lucky if they could even release another... anything!
Highlights: How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?, 1999, Controversy, Do Me Baby
8/10

Live in Eindhoven 2011 - Heather Nova
This was like a free download for pre-ordering her album or something? I do not recall if I have ever really given it a solid listen, because I would have remembered that is very good. Much better than I expected. Which makes no sense, considering Heather Nova is great. I think maybe I thought this was mostly acoustic, but it is a full band show. And the guitarist does his best David Ayers impersonation.
Highlights: Heart and Shoulder, Island, All I Need, Beautiful Ride
7/10

Live in Japan - George Harrison
Really, it is George Harrison and Eric Clapton. But it is nice that it was just released under Harrison's name, so I do not have to have 'official' Clapton in my library. It is a pretty solid recording, overall. No nonsense and just straight rock'n roll - pretty much what you would expect. A decent mix of solo and songs from his time in The Beatles. And Clapton is best served as a sideman like this.
Highlights: I Want to Tell You, Isn't It a Pity, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Cheer Down
7/10

Live in Japan - The Runaways
I think I have mentioned this album previously; I thought it was nothing special, but now I love it. Totally rocks hard. And Gettin' Hot is such a totally badass song I do not understand why this is the only version of it out there.
Highlights: Gettin' Hot, Queens of Noise, American Nights, C'mon
7.5/10

Live in New York City - John Lennon
Look, we all know how I feel about Yoko and John Ono Lennon. And even I would be ready to throw this album in the 'who cares?' pile. But seeing as they have finally remixed it and whatnot BUT are pretending Woman is the Nigger of the World does not exist, so this album is the only way to hear it live... well, I guess it become a lot more worthwhile having it in the collection. But the performances on Anthology are better.
Highlights: Well Well Well, Instant Karma!

2025 in 2025: Day 83

GOiNG TO DESTRUCTiON - BiSH
Bah gawd this album rules the schools. Very little idol nonsense and a whole lot of punk attitude, wrapped up in some pop stylings. The whole thing is full of great hooks and big beats and screaming vocals and just awesomeness. So good I had to buy it three different times...
Highlights: in case..., STACKiNG, I have no idea., WiTH YOU, 狂う狂う, BROKEN
9/10

Gold - Cher
While I do appreciate her 60s and 70s music - it is mostly good light-hearted pop, some of it strangely racially-charged - I feel like Cher really came into her own once she hooked up with Richie Sambora. The 80s style pop-rock thing really suited her voice. Especially the power ballads. I also enjoy her late 90s/early 00s resurgence doing disco. Because LOGMAN loves disco. And Cher. Only song missing from this is her cover of Walking in Memphis - her live cut of that is fantastic.
Highlights: We All Sleep Alone, After All, If I Could Turn Back Time, Just Like Jessie James, Song for the Lonely
7.5/10

Gold - Ryan Adams
It is crazy to think DRA wanted this as a double-album; the cut tracks are mostly average (but mostly not great) and half of the remaining tracks are also kinda there. But boy howdy that first half of the album is brilliant. It tries to get back to that level around Harder Now That It's Over, and it certainly gets close.
Highlights: New York New York, Firecracker, Answering Bell, La Cienaga Just Smiled, The Rescue Blues
8/10

Gold: Greatest Hits - The Everly Brothers
The title does not lie; this is pure rock'n roll gold. These dudes had beautiful harmonies.
Highlights: Bye Bye Love, Wake Up Little Susie, Rip It Up, Should We Tell Him, Poor Jenny
7/10

Gold Against the Soul - Manic Street Preachers
I forget how kickass this album is. Compared to their first album, there is nothing on the level of Stay Beautiful or Motorcycle Emptiness (I mean, that is a crazy high bar to set), but overall I enjoy this album more. Shorter, punchier, all great songs and a much better mix. James Dean Bradfield sounds very angry!
Highlights: From Despair to Where, Sleepflower, Yourself, Roses in the Hospital
8/10

Gold Cobra - Limp Bizkit
Ten years after their peak and ten years before they embraced being just a fun joke of a band. And Fred Durst was still "rapping" about bagging hawt women and fighting people. "So much ass in Los Angeles/It's definitely scandalous". Thought-provoking def jam poetry slam, to be sure.
Highlights: Gold Cobra, Shark Attack, Shotgun, 90.2.10
6/10

The Gold Experience - Prince
I mean, sure, he was actually the symbol at this point. But I just credit everything to Prince. And this album is one of his best. Or at least one of my favourites. Funk, rock, soul, ballads and awesomeness all wrapped in a nice gold bow. The Most Beautiful Girl in the World is just phemonenal and Endorphinmachine is the most fun rockin' Prince song on the planet. I am even willing to overlook the overt religious lyrics on songs like Dolphin and Gold. That is just how this all this.
Highlights: Endorphinmachine, Shhh, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, Gold
9/10

Gold Medal - The Donnas
I don't want to say this album is boring, because it is not quite that bad. But compared to the stellar Spend The Night, this is...
Highlights: Don't Break Me Down, Fall Behind Me, It Takes One to Know One
6.5/10

The Golden Age of Wireless - Thomas Dolby
This is purely the song She Blinded Me with Science. It is classic 80s synth pop stuff.
7/10

Gone Troppo - George Harrison
Speaking of 80s synth pop stuff - George and his Moog are back having some summer fun.
Highlights: Dream Away, Wake Up My Love, Gone Troppo, That's the Way it Goes
7/10

Gonna Make You Sweat - C+C Music Factory
This is both super fun pop-rap dance stuff, and hard hitting 90s dancefloor jams. 90s dance stuff could super funky. This dude's raps are hilariously cringe at times. And surprisingly misogynistic!
Highlights: Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), Here We Go Let's Rock & Roll, Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...., Bang That Beat
8/10

Good Bye - M to M
K-Pop ballad. Idol group? Handsome actor? A combo of both??
7.5/10

Goodbye [Single] - Spice Girls
Saying goodbye to Geri, but not really. Smart marketing. I was actually unpacking a box the other day and found my poster book from their split with Geri. What a time to be a Spice Girls fan. A sad time. Anyways, this song is beautiful and the tracks from Live at Wembley are also very, very good. The Mels completely nail Sisters (Are Doing It For Themselves) . Smashing stuff!
Highlights: Goodbye, Sisters (Are Doing It For Themselves), We Are Family [Live]

2025 in 2025: Day 81

The Game - Queen
When I was young, I would see reviews of this album that proclaimed a 5 star album and I really didn't quite get it. Now I absolutely do. It is pretty much pop rock perfection with a bit of a little bit of a throwback to old rock'n roll. And a side of super strong funk. Who thought Don't Try Suicide was a good idea? The bridge is great, but boy those lyrics are... a choice. This is not my favourite Queen album, mostly because it is the least 'Queen' sounding at times, but it may well be their most enjoyable listen.
Highlights: Dragon Attack, Another One Bites the Dust, Rock It (Prime Jive), Sail Away Sweet Sister
9/10

Gangnum Style - PSY
I do not trust anyone that cannot enjoy this song. It is a party.
10/10

Gangnum Style/2 Legit 2 Quit Mashup - PSY (feat. MC Hammer)
How do you make an awesome more awesome? Mix it with another awesome song! It is basically just Gangnum Style with the 2 Legit chorus at the end, but that is a very good idea.
10/10

Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio
Sadly, I do not have this full album. I should sort that out one day, because Coolio sure did have some cool(io?) moments. Especially the theme song for Kenan & Kel. That was a fun show. Coolio was a fun dude. Hip-hop should be fun sometimes.
Highlights: Gangsta's Paradise, 1 2 3 4 (Sumpin' New)
9/10

Garbage - Garbage
In hindsight, I feel like a lot of pop music today owe a lot to what Garbage brought out; that whole alt rock with electronicness was not really being done before them, and they really pushed it hard. I always find the guitars on this album way over produced, but I think that is intentional on their part to really work with the whole electronic thing. Also, I heard a live version of My Lover's Box that showed me they didn't really capture the real awesomeness of Shirley Manson. I would like to one day get the reissues, but I am glad I do not have them yet, because I have so much to listen to already that I do not need to add 60 remixes of Milk.
Highlights: Supervixen, Vow, My Lover's Box, Fix Me Now
8/10

Gene Simmons - Gene Simmons
I'm going to listen and review this without reading any of my earlier post to see if my position changes... and... nope. Possibly the worst album that I will not only continue to own and store in my iTunes library, but also plan on upgrading because I am stupid.
Highlights: Radioactive, See You in Your Dreams
5/10

General Ulysses S. Hospital - The Shit
This is probably the least memorable of The Shit's vast and incredibly discography. Seems to be mostly about poo and being sick? And ends with a party jam about sex? But before that is an ode to the poet Snoop Dogg and some philosophical musings on religious figures like Buddah and Jesus and the Michelin Man.
Highlights: Buddah vs. Jesus
6/10

Generation Swine - Mötley Crüe
The popular opinion is to trash this album. But LOGMAN does not subscribe to conventional ideas and thinks this album rocks and has done since 1997. Sure, it is a bit of a mess, and Bryan Adams somehow helped make one of the worst ballads ever (which is like the opposite of his powers), but gawdam some of these songs are fun as nuts.
Highlights: Flush, Shout at the Devil '97
7.5/10

Generation Swine (2003 Remastered) - Mötley Crüe
Yeah this is pointless; just the bonus tracks from the re-release, because I'm too cheap to even buy a single Mötley Crüe remaster, apparently. I like one of these...
Highlights: Kiss the Sky
6/10

Generation Terrorists - Manic Street Preachers
My biggest take away from this album is it really needed an edit. While it features two of the Manic's best songs ever - possibly best songs by anyone ever? - and some other great rockin' tracks, there is a bit of filler that just makes the album drag. So cut some of that and give the whole thing a remix and you have yourself a killer album, perhaps?
Highlights: Motorcycle Emptiness, Stay Beautiful, Nat West - Barclays - Midlands - Lloyds, Methadone Pretty
7/10

George Harrison - George Harrison
Well, that certainly is a change of pace! This is George at possibly his most happiest and chilled, just a collection of nice pop songs. Some of them really good, actually. Even a song in reference to F1. Imagine being so successful in your career you can just take a year off to follow the F1 championship around the world...
Highlights: If You Believe, Faster, Love Comes to Everyone, Blow Away
7/10

Get a Grip - Aerosmith
Wow, I can not remember the last time I listened to this album. And my memory is really hazy about what I thought about it, because it has been a helluva jam today! Aerosmith with some hard rock boogie really does hit the spot. And those epic songs like Livin' on the Edge and Cryin' are just awesome. Bruce Fairbairn was dang great producer.
Highlights: Eat the Rich, Livin' on the Edge, Shut Up and Dance, Cryin', Amazing
9/10

Get Behind Me Satan - The White Stripes
Jack White sure does love his Whammy pedal. And I guess he just discovered various percussion instruments, because they are all over this album; marimbas, shakers, bells. It is like listening to one of DRA's stupid Garageband albums. In fact, The Nurse sounds exactly like one of those songs! It could easily be from a DJ Reggie album.
Highlights: Blue Orchid, My Doorbell, The Denial Twist
5/10

Get Nice! - Zebrahead
This ticks all the boxes for what I want in a pop-punk album; great riffs & hooks, singing about middle finger to the world, and just do your thing and have a great time. Even some references to Mötley Crüe and pro-wrestling! In true LOGMAN fashion, I have the Japanese version of this album that features two bonus tracks and holy balls they are worth it!
Highlights: Nothing to Lose, Get Nice!, Nudist Priest, This is Gonna Hurt You Way More Than It's Gonna Hurt Me, Light Up the Sky
9/10

2025 in 2025: Day 68

Exit The Dragon - Urge Overkill
This album has the weird vibe of being super low-fi and indie sounding, while simultaneously being wholly overproduced. It was the end of grunge, so it all makes sense. It was also probably the last album I bought on cassette! These might not be their best work, but there are some seriously glorious moments of awesome riffs in otherwise average songs - that kind of bridge part in This Is No Place being a prime example. And who else could make a compelling song about playing Monopoly?
Highlights: The Break, Take Me, Last Night/Tomorrow, And You'll Say
8/10

Experience Hendrix: The Best of Jimi Hendrix - Jimi Hendrix
Where is Hollywood Hogan and his WCW belt-strumming? Legit never get tired of hearing that. But I would probably say All Along the Watchtower features some of the coolest guitaring of the 60s.
Highlights: All Along the Watchtower, Little Wing, Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Purple Haze, Fire
7/10

Exposed - Vince Neil
I actually dig this album a lot; it is Vince Neil just doing the stereotypical 80s hair metal - because that is all he knows - and Steve Stevens is just the absolute greatest. He is all over this album, writing cool riffs and shredding up a storm and making crazy sounds that lazer noises with his guitar. Despite that, I still prefer the Encino Man version of You're Invited (But You're Friend Can't Come), but otherwise this a very cool album. If you dig 80s hair metal... which people in 1993 did not, so much.
Highlights: Look in Her Eyes, The Edge, You're Invited (But You're Friend Can't Come), Forever
8/10

Extra Texture - George Harrison
Since the great disbanding of The Beatles, this was Harrison's most... average album. I think the critiscm and failure of Dark Horse left him going very middle of the road on this one. There are still some great moments, but that is just my assumption. Might even just be the production, because the 'Platinum Weird' version of This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying) is a bit of an improvement over the original.
Highlights: You, The Answer's at the End, A Bit More of You, This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying) [Platinum Weird Version]
7/10

Extraordinary Machine - Fiona Apple
I don't really have much to say about this album. As good as Fiona Apple can be, this album is mostly songs that don't quite reach the heights they possibly could have. Lyrically, she is still top tier - as evidenced in songs like Red Red Red.
Highlights: Oh Well, Please Please Please, Red Red Red
6.5/10

Extreme - Extreme
One of the interesting things in the rock/metal world over the last few years is seeing people finally give Nuno Bettencort the respect he deserves - but only because he threw away what made him so awesome and just decided to shred the universe to pieces on a guitar solo. What I love about him is how awesome he clearly is, while still playing super tastefully on tracks. And then melting faces on songs like Play With Me. This album is good fun cheese. I kind of miss using the Kid Ego moniker for music and everything, but I am not a kid anymore...
Highlights: Kid Ego, Watching Waiting, Mutha (Don't Wanna Go to School Today), Play With Me
8/10

Extremely Live - Vanilla Ice
So you are the biggest star in pop/rap with a few number one singles, a number one album, a successful tour, and what do you do to follow up? A bad live album! I guess this probably came after Cool As Ice, but that was also far from a raving success. In fairness, there are a few "new" songs on here, but why not record them properly and release a new album? Or even an E.P.? And then throw on your 10-minute version of Ice Ice Baby as a bonus track or something.
Highlights: Ice Ice Baby [Miami Drop Mix], Road to My Riches, Satisfaction [Studio Version]
6/10

Eyes Open - Snow Patrol
I had a thing for Snow Patrol after Final Straw and this album was some sort of worldwide smash because of that sad song being in Grey's Anatomy. That kind of killed them for me. Also my iTunes has labelled this album as "Alternative & Punk" and I find that personally offensive.
Highlights: Hands Open, Chasing Cars, It's Beginning to Get to Me, Open Your Eyes

2025 in 2025: Day 61

El Camino - The Black Keys
No idea where this came from. I am not sure I have listened to this or even heard a song from it in my life. Or even know who The Black Keys are. It seems fairly indie rock; short songs that all sound the same and kinda rock.
Highlights: Lonely Boy
6/10

Electric Fire - Roger Taylor
Whoever mixed this album should have been fired - could Taylor not afford someone good? Anyways, this is quite rocking and more enjoyable than I expected. Roger Taylor is such a mixed bag sometimes it is like he saved all his best material for Queen.
Highlights: Pressure On, A Nation of Haircuts, Surrender, Is It Me?, No More Fun
6.5/10

Electronic Sound - George Harrison
George's "avant-garde a clue" album. It is nice to know that a musical genius is also entertained by making silly noises on a Moog.
Highlights: Moogs are fun!
3/10

Elephant - The White Stripes
This album is bizarre and highlights the problem with Jack White; there are awesome songs on here - and they are really awesome - but there is also garbage. And it is really boring garbage. Not really sure what his deal is, but I always get the impression he thinks he is way more amazing than he actually is? I don't know.
Highlights: Seven Nation Army, There's No Home for You Here, The Air Near My Fingers
6.5/10

ELEVEN FIRE CRACKERS - ELLEGARDEN
Pizza: ready. Drink: cold. Volume: UP! This album has everything and it is all shades of awesome. I am seeing this band tonight. In 10 hours. Needless to say, I can not wait.
Highlights: Find a bad song - I dare ya!
10//10

Eliminator - ZZ Top
Every LOGMAN's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man. Especially Jimmy Garvin. I'm sure this version of Legs is different to the one used in the video, but I could be wrong. What I am right about is that this album is at its best when it is really pushing the driving dance beats.
Highlights: Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, Gimme All Your Lovin', Got Me Under Pressure
6.5/10

Elixer - Bria Valente
Prince really overestimated how much sex sold, IMO. I don't think any of his 'proteges' ever really hit it big the way he expected. Pretty sure he could have put more effort in to these songs and made them much better himself.
Highlights: Another Boy, All This Love
6/10

ELLEGARDEN - ELLEGARDEN
The debut E.P. from the greatest band ever. More pizza and cold drink on hand. Is there really much difference between this and the album version of The End of the World? I actually always forget about these songs, which is silly because there are a few super fun awesome songs. Only 7 1/2 hours until the concert.
Highlights: Stupid, Punk, ナイフ
9/10

ELLEGARDEN BEST (1999-2008) - ELLEGARDEN
So the actual album was my initial introduction to ELLEGARDEN and is just the best compilation ever. Of course, this is not that; I have kept the re-recorded songs (because bah gawd I actually think I love this version of Middle of Nowhere!?!?) and then thrown on all the b-sides and whatnot to make my own compilation. And it is all very very awesome because it is ELLEGARDEN and they are awesome. But also, some of their b-sides like New Year's Day and The Autumn Song are some of their absolute best songs. In fact, two of them were already on this compilation. Weirdos. 6 hours until the concert.
Highlights: New Year's Day and Don't Trust Anyone But Us are like 7 stars out of 5
9.5/10

Without ELLEGARDEN this day would have been a terrible listening experience. I need to get my butt to the concert!

2025 in 2025: Day 60

E.T. (feat. Kanye West) [Single] - Katy Perry
Even when I didn't think Kanye was a nutjob that should be ignored, I preferred the album version of this song. And I felt very awkward rapping his part in front of little kids.
8/10

E=MC² - Mariah Carey
I remember the video for Touch My Body being completely hilarious. That intro for Side Effects sounds like the opening for a song by The Lonely Island. I do enjoy that all throughout this album some dude just keeps randomly yelling "M.C." And what does "O.O.C." stand for?
Highlights: Touch My Body, Cruise Control, I'm That Chick, Last Kiss, Thanx 4 Nothin'
7/10

Early Takes - George Harrison
Acoustic demos and alternate takes, mostly from the All Things Must Pass sessions. The acoustic takes are good for more of a focus on the lyrics and George's singing. These definitely showcase how great he actually was.
Highlights: I'd Have You Anytime [Early Take], All Things Must Pass [Demo], My Sweet Lord [Demo], Mama You've Been on My Mind [Demo], Woman Don't You Cry For Me [Early Take]
8/10

Earthling - David Bowie
Little Wonder is so schizophrenic; when it came out, I actually could not get past the verses, which is sad because if I had I would have realised how great that 'chorus' is. I'm Afraid of Americans never stops being awesome and just gets truer every day. This album is WAY betterer than I have ever given it credit for.
Highlights: Seven Years in Tibet, I'm Afraid of Americans, Looking For Satellites, Battle For Britain (The Letter)
8/10

East - Cold Chisel
The most classic Australian rock album by the most classic Australian rock band. And I feel like Cheap Wine might even be the most classic Australian rock song?
Highlights: Standing on the Outside, My Baby, Cheap Wine, My Turn to Cry
7.5/10

East of the Sun, West of the Moon - a-ha
This is certainly not their finest hour.
Highlights: Slender Frame, Cold River, Rolling Thunder, (Seemingly) Nonstop July
6/10

East Side Story - DJ Reggie
Not even this delicious bottle Pepsi Zero Peach can make me understand how I thought this was fun.
Highlights: Revenge of the Ninja, Kick Em' in the Dungeon
3.5/10

Easy Tiger - Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Look, I can be fair to this guy and still say that his songs are great when they are. And some of these songs are absolutely brilliant. Two features probably his most honest line ever. My only criticism is going to be the drums, because they sound blurgh. But gawdam the harmonies and vocals are very good. Actually, the more truthful line is in These Girls: "These girls are better off in my head". Any woman would be better off not dealing with you in real life, buddy!
Highlights: Goodnight Rose, Two, Oh My God Whatever Etc., The Sun Also Sets, I Taught Myself How to Grow Old
8/10

Easy Tiger Rarities - Ryan Adams
These are fine, I guess? One of the songs was actually re-released with a different title, but there is absolutely no difference between the two except for the title.
Highlights: Alice
6/10

echo - CHARA+YUKI
Two indie pop queens uniting to make an E.P. - 20 years in the making, since they actually recorded the first song back in 1999. And I'm pretty sure they were in a punk band together around then? Anyways, lucky for me, YUKI seems to drive this or at least it all sounds like a YUKI kind of album. And the good kind, too.
Highlights: 愛の火 3つ オレンジ (2020version), 楽しい蹴伸び, Night Track, echo
8.5/10

Echo - Leona Lewis
Gawdam whatta voice! And mostly great songs... that all sound the same. So if you want epic pop songs with massive vocals, then this is a great album. I like those things, so thumbs up from me! Even an Oasis cover thrown in for fun? And yes, that was also epic (though I probably prefer the Oasis version, because Liam's voice not so perfect).
Highlights: Happy, I Got You, My Hands, Broken, Lost Then Found

2025 in 2025: Day 50

Dangerous - Michael Jackson
Jam jam here comes the man! Never have truer words been spoken. MJ albums always open with an awesome song, and this may well be the most awesome. The whole first half is New Jack badassery, before it slows down with Heal the World, which feels a lot like 'We Are The World Part II'. I don't care what anyone says - Black or White is peak pop-rock-funk perfection. Damn Slash's guitar solo on Give In To Me is seriously great. I can totally picture some young MJ fans crying when they first heard his spoken word outro for Will You Be There. MJ fans were insane like kids these days have no idea. I cannot hear Gone Too Soon without thinking of Usher singing it at MJ's memorial... Vocals on Dangerous are awesome. Bah gawd this album is awesome.
Highlights: Jam, Black or White, Keep the Faith
9/10

Dare! - The Human League
This is only the hit song Don't You Want Me. Alexis Sayle throwing this in to his Dr. Martin's song on The Young Ones will always be iconic.
8/10

Dark Horse - George Harrison
Hari's On Tour sounds like it is from some sports program or something, like maybe a cricket show? This album gets a bad rap, but I always find it really consistent and super listenable. The wobble-board thing in It Is "He" is hilariously fun. If his voice had not been so destroyed, I think this album would have been quite different.
Highlights: So Sad, Dark Horse, Far East Man
7.5/10

Darkbreaker (Elizabethtown Sessions) - Ryan Adams
A whole bunch of unfinished songs? I was about to say that this version of Everyone Knows is quite good, but then it all fell apart. Two is not bad, either, though the studio version on Easy Tiger is definitely better. I was concerned that during my Ryan Adams marathon 10 years ago I may have bought in to the hype (and my own obsession with this dude) and pretended this 'album' was great, but NOPE! Even then I knew this was trash.
Highlights: Don't Get Sentimental on Me, Elizabeth
4/10

Darkest Days - Stabbing Westward
The kind of industrial metal that makes you want to dye your hair black, paint your fingernails, turn out the lights and do whatever goths do in the dark. I used to listen to this while playing the original Gran Turismo, so not totally dissimilar? This dude's voice was seriously unbeatable until Taka came along. Thing is, amongst the angry dark heavy goth metal are some fantastic hooks. And that coupled with Christopher Hall's awesome screaming has me sitting here enjoying this album immensely.
Highlights: You Complete Me, Save Yourself, Sometime It Hurts, Desperate Now, Waking Up Beside You
8/10

David Live - David Bowie
My man Bowie had better performances, but this is still a pretty decent live album. The bluesy version of All The Young Dudes is pretty great. Earl Slick sure likes shredding up a storm all over this show.
Highlights: Moonage Daydream, All the Young Dudes, Big Brother, Time
6.5/10

Day and Age - The Killers
This was when I started losing interest in The Killers. They still had a big stack of goodwill with me for their debut album, but this album is definitely a bit of a drop-off point. Well, mostly the last half - the first half is quite fun, though very different to what they had released up to this point. Brandon Flowers is the opposite of Christopher Hall, in that his voice is weaker and just getting more annoying. And the lyrics are getting pretty naff, as well. Again, it is not all terrible, but this is certainly where they stopped living up to their name.
Highlights: Losing Touch, Human, Spaceman, Goodnight Travel Well
6.5/10

A Day at the Races - Queen
Let's end day 50 with my first proper Queen album! It's fun; some years ago I would have told you this was one of the best albums ever, but then in the lead up to listening now I was convinced it was kind of average (for a Queen album - which is still top tier). But listening now and it just owns. Seriously. It has everything: straight up rock classics (Tie Your Mother Down), beautiful ballads (You Take My Breath Away), poptastic fun (You and I), epic dark stuff (White Man), random Japanese (Teo Torriatte) and some of the best songs in the Queen catalogue (Somebody to Love). Is that solo in Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy just the funnest? Drowse is the worst Roger Taylor song, but otherwise this album is Queen at their best.
Highlights: All the songs I already mentioned and everything else too

2025 in 2025: Day 45

The Concert for Bangladesh - George Harrison and Friends
Starting my day with a 17 minute Indian stringed-instrument performance. I guess that is one way to ease in to a morning - but it does suit my mood, as I slept later and am taking my time getting my head together. But after that we are in for some good old-fashioned rock'n roll! And seriously, what a killer lineup these concerts had. I enjoy that Ringo forgets half the lyrics to his song. I also enjoy that Leon Russell was just a darn charismatic enigma in this show. He already looked like he was a fifty year-old rocker that had lived a hard life and sang like a man that had been playing in boozy smoke-filled clubs all his life - and he wasn't even thirty yet! Bangla Desh is the best performance of the night, for sure. I hope one day we can get a remix of this album the way they are doing other Beatle's-related albums, because I am sure it can sound better.
Highlights: Just Like a Woman - Bob Dylan, Bangla Desh - George Harrison, Jumpin' Jack Flash/Young Blood - Leon Russell
7.5/10

CONQUEROR - BAND-MAID
Oh my, I had almost forgotten about these young women! This album is not as consistently awesome as World Domination, but it has some fantastic shining moments. Some of these songs are like a better My Chemical Romance. A MUCH betterer My Chemical Romance. I need to check out what they have released since this album and see how good it is. No idea why I stopped listening to them. The drumming on this album is massive and I really dig the timing changes in songs like Bubble. Wow, I can't believe I have to wait another nine months until I get to listen to World Domination...
Highlights: endless story, カタルシス, PAGE
7/10

Conspiracy of One - The Offspring
Original Prankster is more of the same garbage these guys had been releasing with their last album, but then they followed up with Want You Bad - which may be one of their greatest songs ever? The rest is pretty standard fare from The Offspring; nothing terrible, nothing too exciting.
Highlights: Want You Bad, Million Miles Away, Living In Chaos
6/10

Conti Ukiss - U-Kiss
This is just one song and I need to shazam it, because the title is a mess of jibberish. But it is a pretty cool song.
7/10

The Cookbook - Missy Elliot
This is big change of pace. At the time, I rated this album VERY highly. Time hasn't been as kind to it; there are still a bunch of awesome songs, but it just feels like most of the tracks are missing a little something. Missy's rhymes are always awesome, though.
Highlights: Lose Control, Can't Stop, Teary Eyed, Meltdown, Time & Time Again
7/10

Cool as Ice - Various Artists
This is the soundtrack to that cinema epic, starring Vanilla Ice. Great stuff. This is very standard 1991 R'n B type of music. So, Partners in Kryme actually did have another song? I refuse to believe they were a real group. Vanilla Ice really uses these songs to showcase his incredible rapping and rhyming skills. And his softer side for the ladies, thanks to Never Wanna Be Without You - which may well be the funniest ballad ever created. Forever by D'New sounds like 3 people playing keyboard, but can't hear the other 2 people playing. And then someone next door is practicing the saxamophone. And nothing says '1991 movie soundtrack' like an instrumental with dialogue from the movie overtop. Vanilla Ice's parting message on this album is he is not down with... peace??
Highlights: Cool As Ice, The People's Choice, Get Wit' It - Vanilla Ice, You've Got to Look Up - DeREK B, Drop That Zero - Stanley Clarke
6/10

Core - Stone Temple Pilots
I like to pretend that this is not the best album by Stone Temple Pilots, because I like to think Tiny Music is. And I'm right. But, also, this album is, too. Because holy balls does it slam! Weiland's lyrics are all political poetic and his vocals are both powerful and vulnerable, the guitar riffs are massive and with thick distortion, the bass lines are grooving everywhere and the drums are rock solid. There's even a Metallica-sounding instrumental in here. And then these guys refused to ever sound like this again! That was also not a bad thing, because they made great music after this, but this album just feels like peak grunge.
Highlights: Sex Type Thing, Piece of Pie, Plush, Dead & Bloated

2025 in 2025: Day 38

Cold Roses - Ryan Adams and The Cardinals
I want to say bad things about this album. I really do. But it still holds up as an awesome piece of work. From song one, this album is brilliant. And by the time I reach simply the ending of Cherry Lane (which is amazing), I am once again convinced this album is very very good. Certainly a high point of The Cardinals - it was their first album and they never topped it. Heck, I'm not sure they did anything that even came close to matching it.
Highlights: Meadowlake Street, Let It Ride, If I Am a Stranger, Life is Beautiful
9/10

Cold Roses Rarities - Ryan Adams and The Cardinals
I checked my marathon notes and was surprised at how little I wrote about Cold Roses. And I stand by what I wrote about these songs; they really sound like they have zero to do with that album and are mostly not good.
Highlights: Nope
5/10

Cold Spring Harbor - Billy Joel
Dude is doing his best Paul McCartney impersonation throughout this album; then I realise it was recorded and released in 1971, so The Beatles being a massive influence is not really a surprise. This is mostly acoustic; simply Billy Joel singing while accompanied on piano or guitar, though a few songs have some overdubs and whatnot. Overall, it makes for a very simple and relaxed debut album that is not too dissimilar in parts to Elton John's 70s work.
Highlights: You Can Make Me Free, Turn Around
6/10

Collected Works 1962-1990 - George Harrison
I really need to clean this up; I'm certain I have 95% of these songs elsewhere and in better quality, so not sure why I still have it. It would have saved me about 5 hours of listening time today! That said, going chronologically through the career of George Harrison is a pretty decent way to spend 5 hours... I'm curious as to what some of these sources were, because some have different lead ins and It's All Too Much has a very extended outro. Ditto for Something. And then they end super abruptly. I am now convinced Blue Jay Way could have been a much better song. "Without going out of my door/I can know all things of Earth" - George predicting the internet in 1968. Once The Beatles meet their end, it's on to an endless supply of demos - including some jamming with Bob Dylan! That demo of Dark Horse sure gives a good idea of how the song/album could have sounded if George had stayed healthy. And once we hit the 80s, there seem to be a bunch of songs that I am actually not all that familiar with?!? Like, are these b-sides or outtakes or something? And we finish things off with the extended Traveling Wilburys singles. Some neat little surprises on here!
Highlights: Dehra Dun, Dark Horse (Demo), Flying Hour, Lay His Head, Sat Singing, Cheer Down [Because these are all rarities]
7/10

A Collection - Third Eye Blind
This is not the actual album they released, merely a collection of their b-sides/rarities that I collected and then threw under that album title to keep them in one nice place. And it only covers 1997 to around 2005? Well, that was peak 3eb, so that makes sense. Because these songs are all awesome; fun punk rock, good upbeat pop rock, stupid immature Xmas songs, ridiculous sad songs. These cover all the Third Eye Blind genres.
Highlights: New Girl, Christmas Reincarnated, Persephone, Eye Conqueror
8/10

The Collection - Alanis Morissette
As you can expect about now, this is only the songs that aren't on an actual album. Which is not many. Quality over quantity, mofos! Still is about as awesome as Alanis gets this side of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. I have no idea where this live version of Dear Prudence came from. Did I just get obsessed with the song so much that I looked up live versions by my favourite artists? It is underwhelming - particularly after the supreme awesome that is Uninvited.
Highlights: Still, Uninvited

2025 in 2025: Day 37

Christmas Apocalypse (Part 2) - The Shit
Christmas has come early in the house of LOGMAN! This is possibly my 2nd fav The Shit album. I had stuff to write, but the album was over before I could get my head in to gear.
Highlights: Shenanigans, Jesus H. Christmas, Jimmy Hackeysack, Jacques Cousteau Punch Him in the Nuts, Happy Birthday Officer David Livingston
7/10

Christmas In The Stars: Star Wars Christmas Album - Meco
C3PO and R2D2 team up with disco king Meco to bring us the weirdest Christmas album possible. There is sadly no disco to be found, just a whole lot of saccharine and Star Wars references and Christmas nonsense, delivered in spoken word by C3PO and beeps from R2D2. Some other robots or something discuss the presents they have bought for other Star Wars characters. And now some kids are singing Merry Christmas to R2D2, but they just sang about him coming down the chimney. Do they think he is Santa Claus? Also, warming his wires by fire sounds like a serious fire hazard! If you need a singing teacher, C3PO is about the last person I would recommend. And you are clearly poorly-programmed droids if you think whistling is singing. At least Ryan Adams had the decency to sing about people getting punched in the nuts at Xmas time...
Highlights: The Odds Against Christmas, What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Has a Comb?)
5/10

Christmas Will Break Your Heart [Single] - LCD Soundsystem
The most depressing Xmas song? This was the big LCD Soundsystem reunion single. Again, there is no disco to be found. If we're going to do Xmas with disco acts, I would like some disco, please.
6/10

Chronicles - Steve Winwood
Nothing like some 80s Winwood to wash away the silliness of Xmas celebrations in March. This is a good reminder I need to do a more in-depth listen to Steve Winwood's solo work; this is a good compilation and I enjoy the remix nature of some of the songs, but I am interested to hear the rest of his 80s output and get more of a insight into his songwriting.
Highlights: Valerie (Remix), Higher Love
8/10

Chu~♡ - F(x)
More random K-Pop songs in my iTunes library. And I am not complaining.
7/10

Cinema Trip - PASSPO☆
My favourite album? The greatest album? Have I claimed both of those things for 50 other albums so far? I don't have a lot more to say about this one, except 5 1/2 years later it is still the highest played album in my iTunes library - and on last check, バチェロレッテは終わらない was about 100 plays ahead of anything else. By Prime, those last three songs on this album are absolute perfection. Passenger for life!
Highlights: Music Navigation, 7's Up, Playground, ギミギミaction, フィルム, バチェロレッテは終わらない
9.5/10

The Circle - Bon Jovi
Man, these dudes knew how to open an album! The rest is very inspired by the times; think Coldplay and U2 and One Republic and similar type of bands. When it works, it works - because Richie Sambora is awesome. Some of the lyrics are pretty cringe; this was the middle of a global recession, so a lot of people were struggling, and Jon Bon Jovi tried to reflect that in his lyrics, but a rich rockstar singing lines like "They took my pension" just sounds lame. Your pension is safe and sound, buddy - just release another deluxe edition of Slippery When Wet and you'll be able to fund another beach house or restaurant to help feed the homeless.
Highlights: We Weren't Born to Follow, Brokenpromiseland, Happy Now, Learn to Love
7/10

Circus Animals - Cold Chisel
I had been led to believe that by this album, Cold Chisel were not releasing good music. You only need to listen to the first song to realise that is a lie; there are three stone cold classics on this album and a bunch of badass rock'n'roll songs to accompany them. I definitely prefer the live version of Bow River - the harmonica solo just lifts the song to different level - but Barnesy's delivery of the last line of the studio version here is awesome. Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes had super cool harmonies; such completely different sounding voices, but when harmonising together, it sounds fantastic.
Highlights: You Got Nothing I Want, Bow River, Forever Now, When the War is Over
7.5/10

The Clash - The Clash
You can't go wrong with some classic English punk. And this album is about as English punk as it gets. Except, hilariously, this is the US version. Look, I don't know what's going on at the best of times. Just roll with it for now... I might have to get the UK version one day and compare the two, because this album is all sorts of cool.
Highlights: I Fought the Law, Clash City Rockers, I'm So Bored with the U.S.A., London's Burning
8/10

CLASH EP -  小玉しのぶ
Fun story; after seeing BiSH live in Kanagawa, I was at a train station in either Kanagawa or Yokohama (I don't recall correctly) and outside was a young woman performing songs and selling CDs. She was very talented, so I picked up a couple of her CDs - and I have never regretted, because this EP is brilliant. I'm not just throwing around hyperbole when I say Say may well be the most underrated pop rock song on the planet. It is a genuine reminder that great music is anywhere if you just go looking for it.
Highlights: Say, 境界線
9/10

The Clash Tribute - Elvis Costello, Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen & Steven Van Zandt
This was a performance of London Calling by a bunch of old dudes. I liked it at the time. Now not so much...
5/10

Class Mythology - Ryan Adams
I don't remember much about this release, except that it is just chill acoustic numbers. Really chill. Except Future Sparrow - that sounds like a full on Cardinals song.
Highlights: Your Name is on Fire
6.5/10

Cloud Nine - George Harrison
This was probably my first exposure to George Harrison outside of The Beatles; Got My Mind Set On You was a big hit and I probably taped it off the radio like most kids in those days. It stands as probably my favourite album of his from the 80s, for sure. He and Jeff Lynne were a fab team. Probably the most pop collection of songs he made in his whole solo career.
Highlights: That's What it Takes, Got My Mind Set On You, Fish on the Sand, Devil's Radio
8/10

Clumsy - Our Lady Peace
By Prime! OLP were a force on this album. Raine Maida certainly has a unique voice that you either love or hate, and I fall in to the camp of the former. When he nailed his falsetto stuff it really added something to the songs. Lyrics on this album are top tier, although I still don't really know what he means by "the world's a subway". I have added a terribly-recorded live performance of Dear Prudence to the end, for some reason. 2025 LOGMAN would not do such a thing to an album...
Highlights: Superman's Dead, 4 A.M., Clumsy
8/10

Coach Carter: Music from the Motion Picture - Various Artists
This is purely Hope by Twista and Faith Evans. It is a solid groove; Twista's flow is not over the top and Faith just hooks us up with a nice chorus. Nice song.
7/10

Coachella - Ryan Adams
Even when I was a fan of this dude, this was kind of not that great to me. I just didn't think much of the performance and I still don't. Granted, it must have been difficult with all the noise from the other stages - hardly makes for the usual type of atmosphere he played in.
Highlights: Making comments about everyone getting sad in the desert
4/10

Cold Chisel - Cold Chisel
I will repeat myself; the US mix of Khe Sanh is the best version - Barnes' vocals are just more polished and that harmony he pulls off is awesome. The rest of this album is very blues rock. And very Cold Chisel.
Highlights: Juliet, Khe Sanh, Darskarzine, H-Hour Hotel

2025 in 2025: Day 29

Brainwashed - George Harrison
The last album recorded and by George Harrison and released a year after his death. It isn't his most exciting work, but I mean at this stage he was an old man and dying of cancer, so it's more of a chill musing on religion and just being an old man in a dumb world. And when I simplify it to that, I find that whole thing a bit relateable! George Harrison was cool.
Highlights: P2 Vatican Blues (Last Saturday Night), Looking for My Life, Brainwashed
7/10

Brand New By Tomorrow - Money Mark
Yes, that Money Mark! This is all very laid back keyboard-driven almost soul/R'n'B groovy stuff. Musically, very reminiscent of the instrumental jams Beastie Boys were known for. Which kind of makes sense, really. It's all very harmless. The song title Eyes That Ring made me think of Eyes Like Twins by Wilson Phillips, and I'm questioning why I don't have Wilson Phillips in my library. Stupid me having all the great stuff like that only on vinyl.
Highlights: Pick Up the Pieces, Black Butterfly
6/10

Brand-New Idol Shit - BiSH
BiSH's debut album is actually the last one I got; I'm not sure if it was the songs I had heard or simply the very different lineup, but I was not initially interested in this album - and this is after I became a raging fan of this wonderful group. I was missing out, because there are some insanely ridiculous tracks on here. There are a few that were re-recorded later with the next lineup (and then again with the final line-up for their final release - nice and pointless), and I legit have no idea what in the blue hell is going on with カラダ・イデオロギー. Are they imitating chickens or Muppets or Muppet chickens? Otherwise, this is a highly enjoyable album that will be rendered obsolete once I finally upload their pizza box set to my iTunes library...
Highlights: DA DANCE!!, Lonely girl, Story Brighter
7/10

Brass Knuckles - Nelly
Listening to Nelly make MySpace references is about as out of touch as I could possibly be. This is all pretty standard Nelly stuff; which LOGMAN generally enjoys. And we get a lot of cameos on this album; from LL Cool J to Snoop and Nate Dogg to Chuck D to... R Kelly. Ugh. That... does not surprise me. Anyways, this album is actually much better than I recall. It's no Nellyville, but it is groovy.
Highlights: U Ain't Him, Hold Up, L.A., Who Fuck Wit Me
6/10

Break My Stride - Unique II
I loved this song back in '98. Which is only two years after it was released - so I probably felt pretty current! This single is just 3 different version and the all sound similar, just one is shorter than the others.
6/10

Break Out - The Pointer Sisters
How do I only have two songs? I certainly know of a few more that should be here, but oh well.
Highlights: Jump, I'm So Excited
8/10

THE BREAKDOWN [Single] - Prince
Had I known this song would be released on an upcoming album, I likely wouldn't have purchased it, but it never hurts to have more Prince in your music collection.
7/10

Breakfast at Sweethearts - Cold Chisel
Conversations almost sounds like a demo, the way Jimmy's voice is so darn rough and raw. A lot of harmonica on this album. This must be Chisel's least commercial album? It's fine and all, but it does just kind of meander about and doesn't really go anywhere. A lot of songs about Sydney's nightlife. And Jimmy sure sounds like he's been up all night.
Highlights: Dresden, Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye)
6/10

The Breakfast Club (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists
Interestingly, I only have two songs from this soundtrack. You would think I would have the whole thing. But at least it is the two most important songs from the soundtrack.
Highlights: Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds, Fire in the Twilight - Wang Chung
9/10

Breakout - Miley Cyrus
Time for some early Miley pop fun. And, funnily enough, this is the second or third album from 2008 today. This is all upbeat pop/rock and it is mostly great fun.
Highlights: Breakout, 7 Things, The Driveway, Full Circle, These Four Walls
6.5/10

Brick by Brick - Iggy Pop
Naturally, this is only the song Candy. Iggy is so terrible but Kate Pierson is so awesome it balances out and makes for a fantastic song.
8/10

Bricks Are Heavy - L7
It took me listening to the whole album to finally realise where I know Shitlist from - it's in Natural Born Killers. Very fitting. This album is like most L7 albums; heavy and dirty and big dumb fun.
Highlights: Pretend We're Dead, Everglade, Shitlist, This Ain't Pleasure

Wild and Peaceful - Kool & The Gang This is purely Jungle Boogie . Get down, get down! So much funk in here... 10/10 Wild Cherry - Wild ...
