GENE SIMMMONS (1978)

Gene expresses great displeasure at having to listen to his solo album...

Solo albums continue! Gene Simmons! Starts off OK with Radioactive, which is a kinda fun song. Then it gets cheesy and lame with See You Tonite (Gene Simmons obviously isn't too sure how to spell words properly). And then things just cheesier and lamer and as we go on, until it reaches the absolute nadir with Always Near You/Nowhere to Hide. This is like Gene Simmons trying to be Neil Sedaka or something. Except Neil Sedaka can sing well and write rather harmless tunes. Gene Simmons sings awfully and writes fucking trite.

I would say it slowly improves from there, but Man of 1,000 Faces is next and that's just the same poor string line repeated over and over while Gene yells about being the man of 1,000 faces and asking "Who's the man?". Not you, Gene. Certainly not you. See You In Your Dreams is rehash of the Kiss song from Rock and Roll Over, just with added cheese and women singing the chorus. And some other dude doing screams and stuff to make it sound like Gene isn't totally awful. It's all lies - he is. The Kiss version is better. And just because Gene Simmons truly has no balls, the album closes with When You Wish Upon a Star.

Gene Simmons is supposed to be 'The Demon'. After listening to this album, he should change his character to 'The Eunich'
