The new Kiss Night Light so your child will always be scared of the dark...
1982 has been a busy year!
And Kiss return with a gawdam jackhammer, beating the shit out of the listener with one of their flat out heaviest albums ever. Bryan Adams has returned to help co-write the coolest Kiss songs possible. Because Bryan Adams is super cool.
The title track is like a massive punch in the face, then Saint and Sinner reminds you that Gene is supposed to be a Demon and not some fairy princess like he's been the last few albums. Keep Me Comin' picks you up and slams you hard on the canvas before Rock and Roll Hell stomps you into oblivion and then Danger picks you up and swings you around for a bit. I Love It Loud powerbombs you over and over again until I Still Love You wakes you with a hard slap. Gene gives you a flying elbow from the top rope with Killer, then kicks you in the balls and piledrives you again and again with War Machine, getting the easy victory. Or being disqualified for being too violent. I'm not the referee, just a blood-thirsty spectator sitting in the front row cheering as you are being murdered and eating a hot dog. Vegetarian, of course.
And with that, we say goodbye to Ace Frehley! Even though he hasn't been part of the band since Music From "The Elder" - and barely had anything to do with that either. Which is yet another reason he is the best.
Highlights:
Creatures of the Night, Keep Me Comin', Rock and Roll Hell, I Love it Loud
Lowlights:
It taking Ace leaving to wake Gene and Paul up and get back to making awesome music
Verdict = 4 Smoking Les Paul Guitars and a hearty thumbs up!
